I come from Southeast Maluku, one of the eastern regions of Indonesia. My journey to becoming a volunteer at YCM began through the PMD (Proyek Masa Depan) scholarship program from Die Brücke. PMD is a program that helps young people develop their potential, leadership, communication skills, and future goals through learning experiences, volunteering activities, and community involvement. Through this opportunity, I was able to become part of the YCM family and gain experiences that truly shaped me as a person.

From the very beginning of my time at YCM, I received a very warm welcome from the staff and team members. I still remember gathering together in the hall with the younger students, where I introduced myself and shared stories about my hometown in Southeast Maluku. That moment immediately made me feel accepted and comfortable, even though I came from far away.

One thing I loved the most about the YCM team and the students was how fun, interactive, and caring they were. They were always curious, asked many questions, and genuinely tried to help me understand everything about volunteering at YCM. Because of that, I never felt alone during my journey there. Every conversation, activity, and moment together became meaningful for me.

My experience as a volunteer at YCM was truly beautiful and life-changing. I grew personally after gaining so many valuable experiences, whether through conversations with the YCM staff, sharing stories in class, or spending time with the students. The environment encouraged me to become more confident, communicative, and open-minded. One memory that always makes me smile happened on a Saturday during a futsal activity at YCM. We were all playing together in the rain and having so much fun. At one point, my friend Judika, who was also part of the scholarship program, slipped and fell because the field was wet. It became a very funny and unforgettable moment that made all of us laugh together. Moments like that made the volunteering experience even more special because it was not only about teaching or learning, but also about building friendships and creating memories together.

Being a volunteer at YCM has been one of the most inspiring experiences in my life and will always remain one of my most precious memories. The staff members were incredibly kind, supportive, and always willing to share their experiences and life skills with us. Whenever we felt confused or needed help, they were always there to guide and support us. Because of their kindness and the warmth of the community, I see YCM as my second home; a place where I know I will always be welcomed back. I am deeply grateful to have become part of the big YCM family, and I will always carry the lessons, memories, and relationships from this experience with me wherever I go.
